How to get Venomweaver (1/600) · Giant Scorpion (1/1,000) · Magma Brute (1/1,500) · King Scorpia (1/300 compensated)

A Medium Scroll is a soulbound quest item that drops from four different sources across Kintara. Each one is uniquely generated with its own story, title, and set of tougher tasks. Complete all five material deliveries plus your bonus objectives, then redeem it to Maelor the Scrollbinder for Gold and a chance at exclusive cosmetics.

Soulbound: Medium Scroll cannot be traded. You can hold at most 5 active scrolls across all tiers (Beginner, Medium and Hard combined), and any scrolls you carry burn if you die in a death-penalty zone (the Wilderness, Emberstone, the Dunes or Glade Cave). After a scroll drops from an ordinary kill (the Venomweaver included), there's a 60-second cooldown before another can drop for you.

How to get

Source Drop rate Requirement Notes
Giant Scorpion 1 in 1,000 No level gate (The Dunes West/East/South) — but the Dunes is a paid area (free-play accounts can't enter) Open-world farming, no queue. Also drops Desert Robes pieces. Best odds among the non-boss sources.
Venomweaver 1 in 600 Total Level (average) 20 to enter the Glade Cave queue — Glade Cave is a paid area (free-play accounts can't enter) Rolled separately from Venomweaver's Hard Scroll roll, but at most one scroll pays per kill — a Medium win blocks the Hard payout on that kill.
Magma Brute 1 in 1,500 Total Level 25, Emberstone — a paid area (free-play accounts can't enter) Slowest of the four sources. Halved from its original 1 in 750.
King Scorpia 1 in 300 (compensated rate) No level gate — but The Dunes South is a paid area (free-play accounts can't enter) Not independent — only drops if King Scorpia's Hard Scroll roll (1/500) doesn't hit first. See correction note on the Scroll hub page.

Free-play accounts don't receive scroll drops from mobs or bosses.

Medium Scrolls can also come from Season reward track stops — and a Hard Scroll granted by the reward track steps down to a Medium if you're below the Emberstone gate, with hunts drawn at your real level.

Tasks

Each Medium Scroll contains:

  • 5 material-delivery tasks — Bigger contracts with hefty hauls. Every Medium Scroll asks for all five materials: Wood (3,000–4,500), Stone (2,000–3,000), Coal (2,000–3,000), Brute Horn (10 or 20) and Molten Rock (50–100). Every scroll specifies which NPC and the exact amounts within those ranges.
  • 2–3 bonus tasks — Randomly drawn objectives from mob hunts (Dragons, Zombies, Wolves, Magma Brutes, the Venomweaver), a Cooked Chicken delivery and fishing (The Shores, Whisperwood, The Pond) — only ones your own Total Level can reach. Each scroll is unique.

Reward

Complete every task and bring the scroll to Maelor the Scrollbinder on the Mainland to redeem it for:

Reward Amount / Chance Notes
Gold 6–15 Guaranteed on redemption.
Wolf Mask 1 in 500 Independent cosmetic roll. Hat slot.
Frog Mask 1 in 500 Independent cosmetic roll. Hat slot.
Plunger 1 in 500 Independent cosmetic roll. Hat slot.
Top Hat 1 in 500 Independent cosmetic roll. Hat slot. Added in an August 2026 update.
Flying Carpet Mount 1 in 750 Independent cosmetic roll. Mount — the first mount ever sourced from a scroll. Low hover, functions like a ground mount otherwise. Starts at 25% speed, upgrades to 55% in 5% steps for 10 Gold per step.

Each of the five cosmetic rolls is independent — a single Medium Scroll can yield multiple cosmetics or none, in addition to its guaranteed Gold.

Update: Medium Scrolls previously paid Gold only. They now roll five cosmetic rewards on redemption, including the Flying Carpet — the first-ever mount to come out of a scroll — and, most recently, the Top Hat.

Tips

  • Medium Scrolls are tougher than Beginner — expect to haul heavy materials and tackle 2–3 random bonus tasks.
  • Giant Scorpion is now the best open-world Medium Scroll farm (1/1,000, no queue, no level gate) and also passively drops Desert Robes pieces.
  • Venomweaver's odds (1/600) were pulled back in the latest boss loot retune — still solid, but a Medium win blocks its Hard Scroll payout on the same kill, and it's no longer the clear best option it once was.
  • King Scorpia's 1/300 rate looks tempting, but remember it's not a guaranteed Medium roll — his Hard Scroll is checked first, so a kill that hits Hard won't also give you a Medium. His rates have moved several times as spawn frequency and per-person loot value were rebalanced — don't treat him as a primary Medium Scroll farm regardless of the current number.
  • Every Medium Scroll asks for Brute Horn (Magma Brute drop) and Molten Rock (Emberstone lava fishing) — farm them in Emberstone or buy them on the Marketplace.
  • Scrolls cannot be banked — redeem them before risking death. Dying in the Wilderness (or other death-penalty zones) burns all scrolls you're carrying.
