Hard Scroll is the third and highest tier of quest scroll in Kintara, dropped by King Scorpia and, as of a recent update, Venomweaver as well. It requires substantial material deliveries and combat tasks to complete, but pays out the richest Gold and cosmetic rewards of any scroll tier.
Soulbound: Hard Scrolls cannot be traded. You can hold at most 5 active scrolls across all tiers (Beginner, Medium and Hard combined); a scroll that would put you over simply doesn't drop. Any scrolls you carry burn if you die in a death-penalty zone.

1 in 500

Rolled per eligible player — only the top 3 damage dealers roll. The rate has moved several times in boss loot retunes and currently stands at 1 in 500. Not independent from his Medium Scroll roll — see King Scorpia.

Improved from 1 in 1,200 in the latest boss loot retune. Rolled separately for every participant, on top of Venomweaver's existing Medium Scroll roll — but at most one scroll pays per kill: a Medium Scroll win on the same kill blocks the Hard payout.
|
Hard Scrolls can also be granted by Season reward track stops — a reward-track Hard grant steps down to a Medium Scroll if you're below the Emberstone gate, with hunts drawn at your real level.
Task Structure
Completing a Hard Scroll requires finishing all mandatory material deliveries plus the fixed bonus tasks below. The task list never changes — every Hard Scroll asks for the same eight tasks — only the amounts are rolled within the ranges below.
Mandatory Material Deliveries
Bonus Tasks (Fixed)
Update: King Scorpia kills used to appear on the Hard Scroll bonus task list, but were removed. Requiring King Scorpia kills tied scroll completion to his old fixed 30-minute respawn timer, causing completion RNG. With his respawn now variable, the task list stays fixed to Venomweaver, Giant Scorpion, and Magma Brute only.
Redemption
Complete Hard Scrolls are redeemed to Maelor the Scrollbinder.

Each of the fourteen cosmetic rolls is rolled independently on redemption — a single Hard Scroll can yield multiple cosmetics or none, in addition to its guaranteed Gold. Combined, roughly 1 in 16 redemptions pays out at least one cosmetic.
Update: Hard Scroll's cosmetic pool has expanded several times — from the original 5 rolls (Flaming Helmet and four canes) to 9 (the three Mummy pieces and Robin Hood Hat), then 12 (Straw Hat, Demon Mask, Pirate Hat), and now 14 with Laurel Wreath and Clown Mask. In an August 2026 update the odds were also widened across the board: the former 1/500 rows now pay 1 in 200, and the former 1/1,000 rows now pay 1 in 300. Demon Mask is unusual — it wears in the glasses slot rather than the hat slot, so it stacks with any hat, but can't be worn alongside actual glasses. The three Mummy pieces roll separately, so the full outfit is three long grinds rather than one lucky scroll. Adding new rewards has never worsened the odds on any existing roll — every row is independent.
Tips
- Stockpile Wood, Stone, and Coal before you get a Hard Scroll — the material deliveries are the largest bottleneck by far.
- Brute Horn and Molten Rock come from smaller pools, so start banking these early if you're actively hunting King Scorpia or Venomweaver.
- Tasks unlock one at a time, in order — all five deliveries first, then Venomweaver, Giant Scorpion and Magma Brute hunts — and only your tracked scroll's current task counts. Kills made before a hunt becomes active don't count, so finish the deliveries before you go hunting.
- King Scorpia and Venomweaver now have comparable Hard Scroll value per person — King Scorpia's odds are better per kill, but only the top 3 damage dealers roll; Venomweaver's odds are lower but every fighter rolls.
- Remember the 5-scroll cap and death penalty — redeem scrolls promptly rather than stockpiling them if you're taking risks in PvP zones like The Dunes.
