Old Fisher

Old Fisher
Role	Fishing rod giver / fishing tutor
Location	The Pond
Services	Gives a starter fishing rod, sells and trades bait, and replaces lost rods.

The Old Fisher is an early fishing NPC found at The Pond, wandering the grassy bank beside the water. New players visit the Old Fisher to receive a Fishing Rod and begin training Fishing. The Old Fisher will also hand out a replacement rod to players who have lost or no longer carry one.

Services

Service	Item	Notes
Starter tool	Fishing Rod	Gives players the basic tool used to catch Herring at The Pond and Trout in Whisperwood.
Tool replacement	Fishing Rod	Provides another rod if the player carries no rod that fishes the Pond. Carrying a Starter Fishing Rod or a Level 2 Fishing Rod opens his bait trades instead; the Fire-Resistant Fishing Rod can't fish the Pond, so it doesn't count.
Bait counter	Five baits	Sells five of the eight baits at 1 Gold per 100 (not the three sea baits), and trades catch up the whole bait ladder.

Bait

Every Pond catch requires bait (since August 2026). The Old Fisher covers the whole bait economy at The Pond:

• Trades 1 Feather → 1 Feather Bait for free.
• Sells five baits (Feather Bait, Trout Bait, Bass Bait, Tuna Bait, and Squid Bait) at 1 Gold per 100.
• Runs the same fish-for-bait ladder as Dockhand Maren — 10 Herring → 5 Trout Bait, 10 Trout → 5 Bass Bait, 10 Bass → 5 Tuna Bait, 10 Tuna → 5 Squid Bait, 10 Swordfish → 5 Reef Jig, 10 Parrotfish → 5 Diving Plug, 10 Grouper → 5 Glow Jig. Raw or cooked fish both count, and raw is spent first.

The Old Fisher's counter sells bait only — fishing rods, the Wooden Raft and the three sea baits are sold exclusively by Dockhand Maren at The Shores.
