Starter Fishing Rod (previously listed on this wiki as the Basic Fishing Rod) is the free starter rod given by the Old Fisher at The Pond. It's the only rod needed to begin Fishing, but it cannot fish The Shores, The Sunken Isles or Emberstone lava — the first two need the Level 2 Fishing Rod, the lava the Fire-Resistant Fishing Rod.

Note: An upgraded rod keeps working in the water it replaces — buying a Level 2 Fishing Rod doesn't make the Starter Fishing Rod obsolete at The Pond, it just adds The Shores and The Sunken Isles on top.
