The Constable was an NPC from The Watch, Kintara's in-game law enforcement, stationed at the Traveling Merchant's crime scene on the Mainland. He was added following the merchant's death and guarded the cordon around the body.

The crime scene — the body, the blood, and the caution-tape cordon — was cleared from the world on 20 July 2026, and the Constable left with it. He can no longer be found or spoken to in-game. A granite tombstone now stands on the merchant's old tile; clicking it opens an "In Memoriam" popup for The Traveling Merchant, May 22, 2026 — Jul 18, 2026.

Story: The Traveling Merchant was found dead by his cart, and the Constable led the investigation. The inquest has since concluded — in the Constable's words, "Every logged stub was paid out to its rightful claimant or forfeited to the Crown at the inquest deadline." The site is now a memorial.

Role (historical)

• Guarded the crime scene — kept players behind the tape around the Traveling Merchant's body; the cordon could not be crossed.
• Explained the investigation — answered player questions about the merchant's death and the state of the case.
• Directed lottery claims — while the scene stood, players who had entered the Daily Lottery before the merchant's death could learn about their winnings. The estate has since been settled: every logged stub was paid out to its rightful claimant or forfeited to the Crown at the inquest deadline. Nothing in the world opens a lottery claim any more.

Dialogue (historical)

While he was stationed at the scene, talking to the Constable opened several questions:

• "What happened here?"
• "Do you have any suspects?"
• "Is the merchant... dead?"
• "The merchant was holding my lottery stake."
• "I'll be on my way."
