Frost Troll
Found at Frostmere — the glade in the south-east corner
HP 900 HP
Aggro range 4 tiles
Contact damage 10–22 HP per hit (rolled)
Combat XP 250 to every player who dealt at least 10% of its HP
Drops 3 Frost Pelt · 4–6 Iron Ore · 3–5 Coal — to the top whole-fight damager who qualifies · Medium Scroll (1 in 250), Frost Troll Hood (1 in 1,000) and Snow Yak (1 in 50,000) — rolled for every credited player
Notes One per server. Respawns 10 minutes after it falls. Slow — you can always walk away. A Bow can only hit it from inside its glade or right next to it.

The Frost Troll is Frostmere's elite — a hulking brute that guards a glade in the south-east corner of the realm. It isn't a raid boss, but with 900 HP and heavy hits it's built to be fought as a group, and everyone who pulls their weight is paid.

Behaviour

Behaviour Value
Where Its own glade in the south-east of Frostmere. It never leaves the glade, but it can reach you on the glade's edge.
How many One per server
HP 900
Aggro range 4 tiles
Speed Slow — a player can always walk away from it
Hit 10–22 HP (rolled), reduced by your armour
Respawn 10 minutes

Frost Wolves keep out of the troll's glade, so you only have the troll to deal with in there.

Hits to kill

Sword Damage per hit Hits to kill (solo)
Starter Sword 5 180
Copper Sword 23 40
Iron Sword 26 35
Silver Sword 30 30

A Strength Potion adds +10 to every hit, and a sword-damage dish adds +3 or +5. A damage-reduction dish such as Brute Horn Broth or Reef Feast takes 10–15% off every hit the troll lands.

Rewards

Reward Who gets it
250 Combat XP Everyone still in Frostmere who dealt at least 10% of the troll's HP (90 damage) in the last minute of the fight — the killing blow included, and held to the same 10% rule. An Iron Sword adds 5% and a Silver Sword 10%.
3 Frost Pelt + 4–6 Iron Ore + 3–5 Coal The player who dealt the most damage over the whole fight, as long as they:
  • are still in the fight when the troll dies (connected, in Frostmere, in or right next to the glade, and not knocked out), and
  • have been fighting it for at least 30 seconds (their first hit landed 30 seconds or more before the kill), or landed their first hit within 5 seconds of the fight's first hit.

If the top damager doesn't qualify, the bundle goes to the next highest damager who does. If nobody qualifies, no bundle drops that kill.

Medium Scroll — 1 in 250 Rolled separately for everyone paid the troll's Combat XP who is also still in the fight when it dies. The normal scroll limits still apply: you can hold at most 5 unfinished scrolls, no scroll drops for you within 60 seconds of a scroll dropping for you, and the scroll needs a free space in your backpack or hotbar.
Frost Troll Hood — 1 in 1,000 Rolled separately for everyone paid the troll's Combat XP who is also still in the fight when it dies. A hat cosmetic that drops nowhere else. When it drops, the game tells you "The Frost Troll dropped a Frost Troll Hood!" and shows the rare-find reveal; it goes straight into your cosmetics bag, and if that bag is full the hood is lost (you're told so). Worn, the hood makes every Frost Wolf and Frost Troll bite do 15% less damage.
Snow Yak — 1 in 50,000 Rolled separately for the same players as the hood. A mount that drops nowhere else (since 3 November 2026). It goes into your mount bag, and you see "The Frost Troll dropped a Snow Yak! It is in your mount bag." If your mount bag is full, the Snow Yak is lost (you're told so).

Free accounts (holding under 1,000 $KINS) never receive the Medium Scroll, the Frost Troll Hood or the Snow Yak.

A player knocked out before the kill who stayed in Frostmere still gets the Combat XP, but doesn't roll for the scroll, the hood or the Snow Yak.

  • The loot bundle goes by damage over the whole fight, not the last hit, so there's no point racing for the killing blow. Jumping in for the last few seconds won't win it either: you need 30 seconds in the fight, or a hit in its opening 5 seconds. Getting knocked out hands it to the next player in line.
  • A troll kill counts as a monster kill for the Monster Hunter achievements (for the killing blow) and is worth 4 points toward Guild Seasons.
  • Drops go to your backpack first, then your bank if the backpack is full.

Knockouts

Like everything in Frostmere, the troll can't kill you. A hit that would take your last point of health knocks you out: you wake at full health on the arrival strip under the Whisperwood arrows, with nothing lost, and the monsters leave you alone for 10 seconds.
