Mounts are rideable unlocks that increase player movement speed. To equip and unequip a mount easily use "Q" — it rides the mount you last rode, or the first one in your mount bag (you can rebind it in Settings → Key Bindings). They do not affect combat, but they help players move through the world faster. Mounts can come from creature drops, taming, fishing, the Alchemist weekly shop, or the marketplace.

• Get on and off — press Q on a computer, or tap the mount button in the bottom-right corner on a phone or tablet. Either one puts you on the mount you last rode (or the first one in your mount bag), and pressing it again gets you off. Hold the mobile button to open your mount bag. See Controls.
• Switch mounts without getting off — while riding, pick a different mount from your bag and you swap straight onto it. If the new mount can't be ridden where you are, you stay on the one you have. You can't swap mounts in the middle of a fight.
• Back on your mount — ride into a shop, the bank or your home and you're put back on the same mount when you walk out (if you went in on foot, you come out on foot). The same happens when you step off the Wooden Raft back onto land at The Shores, and when the game reloads after an update (or you refresh) while you're riding.

Gild 1, 2 or 3 identical mounts for a 20%, 40% or 60% chance to get a Gold Mount. Every mount but the Lamborghini Mount has a gold version, 37 in all — see Gilded Mounts.
