Connected to The Shores (part of the same ocean)
Notable features Swordfish fishing, Orca Mount rare drop, Waterlogged Crate, Sunken Treasure Map, Silver Ore dredging
Entry requirement Wooden Raft — the water is out of casting range from land

The Deep is a pocket of deep water on the far eastern edge of the ocean at The Shores, just north of the buoy line — the south-east corner of the Tuna water, out past the end of Dockhand Maren's dock and beyond the reach of any cast made from the sand or the dock. The only way to fish it is to paddle out on a Wooden Raft and cast while afloat. It is the home of the Swordfish, the top tier of the fish ladder, and the only water whose casts can also dredge up items — a crate, a treasure map or silver ore — alongside the catch.

Requirement: A Wooden Raft (200 Gold from Dockhand Maren) is required — carry it in your inventory or hotbar and click the water to step onto it; the game refuses a cast into The Deep unless you are afloat with the raft on you. The raft is a real item, so it can be traded, banked or lost on a Wilderness death.

Getting there

Buy a Wooden Raft from Dockhand Maren at The Shores, keep it in your bag, click the ocean to step aboard, and paddle east and south from the end of the dock to the ocean's eastern edge, just north of the buoy line. The Deep is open water — there is no entrance or level gate, only the distance itself.

Fishing

The Deep is a fishing ground of its own, with 2 live fishing spots that move every few minutes like every other water.

Requirement Value
Catch Swordfish
Fishing level 28
Bait Squid Bait
Rod Level 2 Fishing Rod
Standing on Wooden Raft (afloat)
Catch XP 145

Bonus drops

Casts into The Deep make extra rolls that no other water makes. The crate, map and silver land on top of your Swordfish; a winning Orca roll lands instead of the fish (the bait is still spent):

Drop Chance per cast Notes
Orca Mount 1 in 8,000 The Deep's own sea mount. Not gildable.
Waterlogged Crate 1 in 600 A chest fished up from the seabed — opens from your inventory.
Sunken Treasure Map 1 in 2,500 Marks a personal dig site on the Shores sand (see below).
Silver Ore ×1–3 1 in 35 A tangle of ore dredged up in the line — silver without a trip to the Dunes.

Because The Deep is still Shores water, the beach-wide rolls apply out there too: the Stingray Mount and Dolphin Mount (1 in 10,000 each per cast) and the sunken gold purse (1 in 10,000 for 2–10 Gold).

A rod relic with rare-find shortens the Orca, Stingray, Dolphin and gold-purse odds; the crate, map and silver rolls are fixed.

Keep bag space free: a crate, map or silver dredge that finds a full bag is lost.

Note: The Shores — and so The Deep — is closed to free accounts (those holding less than 1,000 $KINS). Once you hold 1,000 $KINS you can reach it, and every Deep roll (Orca, crate, map, silver) applies to you; the separate 24-hour hold gates trading and tombstones, not the water.

Sunken dig sites

A Sunken Treasure Map fished up in The Deep marks a spot on the Shores sand with a red X that only you can see. Walk to the X and click it — or click it from anywhere and your character walks over and digs on arrival. Double-clicking the map in your bag digs if you're standing on or beside the X, and otherwise tells you which way it lies. The cache holds:

Cache contents Amount
Gold 10–30
Silver Ore 4–10
Squid Bait 25
Waterlogged Crate 1 in 5 digs (bonus)

Each map is one dig, and the map is spent when the cache comes up. You can hold up to 5 unspent maps at once — casts past the cap grant no new map until you dig one up. The map is bound to you and cannot be traded or listed: the X it marks is yours alone. It also stays in your bag if you die in the Wilderness, and a guild bank won't accept it.
