The Lanternfish is a cosmetic companion pet that follows your character around the world — a deep-sea fish that brought its own light up from the deep and keeps it on for you. Like all pets, it does not fight, grant stats, or change combat.
"A LANTERNFISH followed your line up from the Deep! It is in your pet bag!"

The Lanternfish is a bonus on top of the cast's Swordfish: the fish still lands, and the Lanternfish goes straight into your pet bag. If the pet bag is full, the Lanternfish is lost, so keep a slot free. Only casts into The Deep roll it — the rest of The Shores' water doesn't — and a rod relic with rare-find improves the odds. The Lanternfish isn't sold in any shop.
The Deep is part of The Shores, a paid area — free-play accounts (holding under 1,000 $KINS) can't enter it, and free-play accounts are also excluded from pet drops.
