EXP Calculator is a tool for calculating the experience points from resources mining to killing mobs and bosses, and the EXP required for each character level. The calculations below do not include travel time between Tree, Stone, Coal, Iron nodes, Fishing spots, Mobs spots, or Boss spots, and assume no competition for resources in the area.

EXP Requirement Per Level

Every skill uses the same curve: level 1→2 costs 480 XP, and each level after that costs 20% more than the one before (level L→L+1 costs 480 × 1.2L−1 XP). The level cap is 40.

Level Total XP needed
10 9,984
20 74,276
30 472,353
40 (cap) 2,937,144

Resources EXP

Gathering XP is paid once per felled tree or mined-out rock, not per swing: 20 per tree, 25 per Dunes cactus, and by ore 20 Stone, 25 Coal, 50 Iron Ore, 90 Silver Ore. A tree or a single-tile rock takes 6 swings (two-tile rocks 7, 2x2 clusters 10). Higher-tier tools swing faster (copper 5%, iron 10%, silver 15%), so they clear each tree or rock sooner and raise EXP per minute.

Wood Stone, Coal, Iron, Silver

All Axe Tiers: 20 EXP per felled tree (25 per cactus)

All Pickaxe Tiers: 20–90 EXP per mined-out rock, by ore

Wood

All Axe Tiers: 20 EXP per felled tree; a tree takes 6 swings. Swing Speed is the time per swing; the rates assume nonstop chopping with no walking between trees.

Tier Swing Speed EXP Per Minute EXP Per Hour EXP Per Day
Starter 0.60s 333 EXP 20,000 EXP 480,000 EXP
Copper 0.57s 351 EXP 21,053 EXP 505,263 EXP
Iron 0.54s 370 EXP 22,222 EXP 533,333 EXP
Silver 0.51s 392 EXP 23,529 EXP 564,706 EXP

A cactus in The Dunes takes the same 6 swings and pays 25 EXP, but needs Woodcutting 20 and an Iron or Silver Axe: 27,778 EXP per hour with an Iron Axe, 29,412 with a Silver Axe.

Stone, Coal, Iron, Silver

All Pickaxe Tiers: each ore pays its own XP per mined-out rock — Stone 20, Coal 25, Iron Ore 50 (Mining 5), Silver Ore 90 (Mining 20). The table shows EXP per hour of nonstop mining on single-tile rocks (6 swings each) with no walking between rocks; two-tile rocks and 2x2 clusters pay the same XP for 7 and 10 swings. Multiply by 24 for a day.

Tier Swing Speed Stone Coal Iron Ore Silver Ore
Starter 0.52s 23,077 EXP 28,846 EXP 57,692 EXP — (starter tools don't work in The Dunes)
Copper 0.494s 24,291 EXP 30,364 EXP 60,729 EXP 109,312 EXP
Iron 0.468s 25,641 EXP 32,051 EXP 64,103 EXP 115,385 EXP
Silver 0.442s 27,149 EXP 33,937 EXP 67,873 EXP 122,172 EXP

Stone and Coal come from rocks outside Frostmere and The Dunes, Iron Ore from Frostmere and Silver Ore from The Dunes. See Mining for gathering locations.

Fish

Fish Fishing Level Bait Catch XP Cook XP
Herring 1 Feather Bait 125 XP 125 XP
Trout 6 Trout Bait 130 XP 130 XP
Bass 13 Bass Bait 135 XP 135 XP
Tuna 20 Tuna Bait 140 XP 140 XP
Swordfish 28 Squid Bait 145 XP 145 XP

Placeholder Cast EXP (assumes 30 seconds per catch, subject to change):

Fish EXP Per Minute EXP Per Hour EXP Per Day
Herring 125 × 2 = 250 EXP 250 × 60 = 15,000 EXP 15,000 × 24 = 360,000 EXP
Trout 130 × 2 = 260 EXP 260 × 60 = 15,600 EXP 15,600 × 24 = 374,400 EXP
Bass 135 × 2 = 270 EXP 270 × 60 = 16,200 EXP 16,200 × 24 = 388,800 EXP
Tuna 140 × 2 = 280 EXP 280 × 60 = 16,800 EXP 16,800 × 24 = 403,200 EXP
Swordfish 145 × 2 = 290 EXP 290 × 60 = 17,400 EXP 17,400 × 24 = 417,600 EXP

Fish at The Pond, Whisperwood, The Shores or The Deep depending on tier. A bite comes 20–30 seconds after each cast (30% sooner with the full Angler Outfit), so the table above uses the slowest bite and leaves out casting and walking between spots.

Cooking

Cooking rolls against your Cooking level for a chance to burn the fish. A burnt fish gives 0 Cooking XP, cannot be eaten, but can still be traded.

Cooking Level Burn Chance
5 and below 30.0%
10 26.4%
20 19.3%
30 12.1%
40 5.0%

Burn chance slides roughly 0.7% per level between anchors and never reaches 0%.

Placeholder Cooking EXP (assumes default 10-second cook, no burns, subject to change):

Fish EXP Per Minute EXP Per Hour EXP Per Day
Herring 125 × 6 = 750 EXP 750 × 60 = 45,000 EXP 45,000 × 24 = 1,080,000 EXP
Trout 130 × 6 = 780 EXP 780 × 60 = 46,800 EXP 46,800 × 24 = 1,123,200 EXP
Bass 135 × 6 = 810 EXP 810 × 60 = 48,600 EXP 48,600 × 24 = 1,166,400 EXP
Tuna 140 × 6 = 840 EXP 840 × 60 = 50,400 EXP 50,400 × 24 = 1,209,600 EXP
Swordfish 145 × 6 = 870 EXP 870 × 60 = 52,200 EXP 52,200 × 24 = 1,252,800 EXP

Cook Fish or Raw Chicken at roast pits in The Pond or Whisperwood for Cooking XP. Actual EXP/hour will be lower once burn chance is factored in.

Smithing

Blacksmith

Smithing: XP varies by action

Smithing XP comes from smelting and forging. Smelting takes 1 second per ingot (batchable ×1/×5/×10). Forging takes about 1 second per item. Repairs are instant.

Smelting XP

Smelting now takes 1 second per ingot and is batchable (×1, ×5, ×10), scaling materials, time, and XP together.

Ingot XP per Ingot XP per ×10 Batch Time per ×10 Batch EXP Per Hour (continuous)
Copper Ingot 10 XP 100 XP 10 seconds 36,000 XP
Iron Ingot 22 XP 220 XP 10 seconds 79,200 XP
Silver Ingot 30 XP 300 XP 10 seconds 108,000 XP

Forging Tools XP

Each forge action takes about 1 second, so forging XP is limited by materials, not time.

Tool Smithing XP Materials per forge
Copper tool (Axe/Sword/Pickaxe) 400 XP 20–28 Copper Ingots + 400–850 Wood
Iron tool (Axe/Sword/Pickaxe) 750 XP 40–60 Iron Ingots + 1,000–1,600 Wood
Silver tool (Axe/Sword/Pickaxe) 700 XP 80–100 Silver Ingots + 2,000–3,000 Wood

Forging Armor XP

Piece Smithing XP
Iron Boots 175 XP
Iron Helmet 280 XP
Iron Legguards 350 XP
Iron Body Armor 350 XP
Silver Boots 280 XP
Silver Helmet 560 XP

Silver Body Armor 700 XP

Armor pays 7 Smithing XP per ingot in the recipe. Full iron set: 1,155 XP total. Full silver set: 2,065 XP total.

Note: Smithing is a bonus skill and does not count toward Total Level.
