Frost Wolves are pack hunters that roam the snowy forest of Frostmere. They're Frostmere's everyday monster: tougher than a Wild Zombie, but with no PvP, no death and no loot lost, they're a safe place to train Combat.
Behaviour
| Behaviour | Value |
|---|---|
| Found at | Frostmere — 7 wolves roam the realm |
| HP | 90 |
| Aggro range | 4 tiles — once a wolf is chasing you it keeps up the chase a few tiles further |
| Pack limit | At most 3 wolves chase one player at a time |
| Chase speed | Faster when chasing than when wandering |
| Bite | 4–13 HP (rolled), reduced by your armour |
| Respawn | 45 seconds |
Wolves never enter the two safe areas — the clearing around the Blacksmith Forge and the arrival strip under the Whisperwood arrows — and they keep out of the Frost Troll's glade in the south-east.
Hits to kill
| Sword | Damage per hit | Hits to kill a Frost Wolf |
|---|---|---|
| Starter Sword | 5 | 18 |
| Copper Sword | 23 | 4 |
| Iron Sword | 26 | 4 |
| Silver Sword | 30 | 3 |
A Strength Potion adds +10 to every hit, and a sword-damage dish adds +3 or +5.
Drops and rewards
| Reward | Chance | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 50 Combat XP | Every kill | Paid to the killing blow. An Iron Sword adds 5% and a Silver Sword 10%. |
| Frost Pelt ×1 | 1 in 4 | Crafted into the Frostbound Set by Grimjaw until 30 November 2026 — see Frost Pelt. |
| Iron Ore ×1–2 | 1 in 8 | |
| Coal ×1–2 | 1 in 8 | Handy, since Frostmere's rocks don't carry coal. |
Each drop is rolled on its own, so one kill can drop more than one. Drops go to your backpack first, then your bank if the backpack is full.
- A Frost Wolf kill counts as a monster kill for the Monster Hunter achievements and gives 1 point toward Guild Seasons.
- It does not count as a "wolf" for Daily Quests, the weekly quest or the Pack Breaker achievement — those are Wild Wolves in the Expanded Wilderness.
- Frost Wolves can't be tamed.
Knockouts
Frostmere is not a death realm. If a bite would take your last point of health, you're knocked out instead: you wake at full health on the arrival strip under the Whisperwood arrows, with nothing lost. For 10 seconds afterwards the packs leave you alone — that grace ends early if you swing at something.
