How to get Fishing in The Deep at The Shores (Fishing level 28, Squid Bait, Wooden Raft)

Swordfish is the fifth and highest tier of Kintara's five fish, caught only in The Deep — the raft-only water on the far eastern edge of the ocean at The Shores, just north of the buoy line. Cooking it converts it to Cooked Swordfish, the strongest fish heal in the game at 25 HP — or, on a failed cook, to Burnt Swordfish, which is junk. Cooked Swordfish does nothing in The Dunes: the heat blocks every cooked fish there, and cacti is the only food that heals in the sand.

Catching

Requirement Value
Location The Deep (The Shores, eastern edge of the Tuna water)
Fishing level 28
Bait Squid Bait
Rod Level 2 Fishing Rod
Also needed Wooden Raft — The Deep is beyond casting range from land, so you must cast while afloat
Catch XP 145

The Deep runs 2 live fishing spots of its own. Casts there also roll the water's bonus drops — the Orca Mount, the Waterlogged Crate, the Sunken Treasure Map and Silver Ore dredges — see The Deep for the full table. The Shores, and so The Deep, is closed to free accounts (those holding under 1,000 $KINS).

Cooking

Result Effect Cooking XP
Cooked Swordfish Heals 25 HP 145
Burnt Swordfish No heal, no XP, junk item 0

Cooking Swordfish requires Cooking level 28. Cooking any fish is a roll against your Cooking level — the burn chance starts at 30% (level 5 and below) and slides down toward, but never reaches, 0% (5% at level 40). The Roast Pit shows your exact current burn chance.

Uses

  • One Angler outfit exchange takes 150 cooked fish of each species — Cooked Herring, Cooked Trout, Cooked Bass, Cooked Tuna and Cooked Swordfish — and grants 10 raffle tickets.
  • Swordfish is the top of the ladder: there is no further bait tier to trade it up to.
