Hard Scroll is the third and highest tier of quest scroll in Kintara, dropped by King Scorpia and, as of a recent update, Venomweaver as well. It requires substantial material deliveries and combat tasks to complete, but pays out the richest Gold and cosmetic rewards of any scroll tier.

Soulbound: Hard Scrolls cannot be traded. You can hold a maximum of 5 at once, and any held scrolls are destroyed on death.
Update: Hard Scroll used to come only from King Scorpia, locking the rarest scroll in the game behind a boss on a contested timer. Venomweaver now also drops Hard Scrolls at 1 in 2,000 per participant — separate and independent from its existing Medium Scroll roll (1/500). Nothing was taken away to add this; both rolls happen on the same kill.

Acquisition

Source Drop rate Notes
King Scorpia 1 in 100 Rolls independently alongside Gold, Medium Scroll, and the King Scorpia Mount on every kill.
Venomweaver 1 in 2,000 Rolled separately for every participant, on top of Venomweaver's existing Medium Scroll roll.

Task Structure

Completing a Hard Scroll requires finishing all mandatory material deliveries plus the fixed bonus tasks below. Nothing on a Hard Scroll is randomized — every scroll asks for the same task set.

Mandatory Material Deliveries

Material Amount required
Wood 4,000–5,000
Stone 3,000–4,000
Coal 2,500–3,500
Brute Horn 20–50
Molten Rock 100–200

Bonus Tasks (Fixed)

Task Requirement
Defeat Venomweaver 5–10 times
Kill Giant Scorpion 10–30 kills
Kill Magma Brute 10–40 kills
Update: King Scorpia kills used to appear on the Hard Scroll bonus task list, but were removed. Requiring King Scorpia kills tied scroll completion to his old fixed 30-minute respawn timer, causing completion RNG. With his respawn now variable, the task list stays fixed to Venomweaver, Giant Scorpion, and Magma Brute only.

Redemption

Complete Hard Scrolls are redeemed to Maelor the Scrollbinder.

Reward Amount / Chance Notes
Gold 30–50 Guaranteed on redemption.
Flaming Helmet 1 in 500 Independent cosmetic roll.
Gold Cane 1 in 500 Independent cosmetic roll.
Emerald Cane 1 in 500 Independent cosmetic roll.
Ruby Cane 1 in 500 Independent cosmetic roll.
Sapphire Cane 1 in 500 Independent cosmetic roll.
Mummy Mask 1 in 500 New cosmetic roll. Hat slot. Part of the 3-piece Mummy outfit — each piece rolls separately.
Mummy Top 1 in 500 New cosmetic roll. Top slot. Part of the 3-piece Mummy outfit — each piece rolls separately.
Mummy Bottom 1 in 500 New cosmetic roll. Pants slot. Part of the 3-piece Mummy outfit — each piece rolls separately.
Robin Hood Hat 1 in 1,000 New cosmetic roll. Hat slot.

Each of the nine cosmetic rolls is rolled independently on redemption — a single Hard Scroll can yield multiple cosmetics or none, in addition to its guaranteed Gold.

Update: Hard Scroll's cosmetic pool expanded from 5 rolls to 9. The original Flaming Helmet and four canes are unchanged; four new items were added — Mummy Mask, Mummy Top, Mummy Bottom (each 1/500), and Robin Hood Hat (1/1,000). The three Mummy pieces roll separately, so the full outfit is three long grinds rather than one lucky scroll. Adding these new rewards did not worsen the odds on any existing roll — every row is independent.

Comparison to Other Scroll Tiers

Tier Source Drop rate Redeem value
Beginner Scroll Wilderness mobs (Zombies, Dragons, Wolves) 1 in 1,000 2–5 Gold
Medium Scroll Venomweaver (1/500) · Giant Scorpion (1/1,000) · Magma Brute (1/1,500) · King Scorpia (1/75) Varies by source 6–15 Gold + 4 cosmetic rolls
Hard Scroll King Scorpia (1/100) · Venomweaver (1/2,000) Varies by source 30–50 Gold + 9 cosmetic rolls

Tips

  • Stockpile Wood, Stone, and Coal before you get a Hard Scroll — the material deliveries are the largest bottleneck by far.
  • Brute Horn and Molten Rock come from smaller pools, so start banking these early if you're actively hunting King Scorpia or Venomweaver.
  • The bonus tasks are fixed, so you can work toward them passively while farming Medium Scrolls from Venomweaver or Giant Scorpion — those kills count toward your Hard Scroll bonus tasks too.
  • Venomweaver is now a real Hard Scroll source in its own right — worth farming even outside King Scorpia hunts, especially since it also pays the best Medium Scroll odds in the game.
  • Remember the 5-scroll cap and death penalty — redeem scrolls promptly rather than stockpiling them if you're taking risks in PvP zones like The Dunes.
