Magma Brutes are large hostile mobs found in Emberstone. They are the zone's main combat encounter and the only source of Brute Horn drops. They also drop the cosmetic Magma Brute Pet at 1 in 500 kills — the pet can additionally be bought on the Marketplace. Magma Brutes pay 100 Combat XP per kill — more than Wild Dragon and Wild Zombie, though Giant Scorpion (110 XP) now pays more — and also drop Gold.

Update: Magma Brute respawn is 90 seconds as of Server Update v5.8 (briefly tested at two minutes, then shortened). Contact damage is a rolled 8–19. Players wearing no armor at all take 50% more damage from brutes — any single worn armor piece cancels the penalty.

Drops and rewards

Magma Brutes roll each of the following independently on kill — a single kill can yield Brute Horn, Gold, Medium Scroll, and a pet chance at once.

Medium Scroll	1 in 1,500 kills	Halved from the previous 1 in 750. Unique quest scroll with 5 material deliveries + 2–3 bonus tasks. Pays 6–15 Gold when redeemed to Maelor the Scrollbinder.

Update: Medium Scroll drop rate here has been halved, from 1 in 750 to 1 in 1,500. Giant Scorpion (1 in 1,000) and Venomweaver (1 in 600) both now beat Magma Brute for Medium Scroll farming.

Taming

Magma Brutes are strictly hostile and cannot be tamed.

Tips

• Bring Health, Shield, and Strength Potions from The Alchemist — Emberstone is a PvP zone and contact damage is a heavy 8–19 per hit.
• Wear at least one armor piece — going fully unarmored means taking 50% more damage from brutes.
• Higher-tier swords kill brutes faster (a silver blade hits for 30 vs. the starter's 5) — XP per kill stays a flat 100 regardless of weapon.
• Three Magma Brutes are always active, respawning every 90 seconds — solo players and fishers get a real window without brutes stacking back-to-back.
• Brute Horn drops at 1-in-5 — expect roughly one horn every 5 kills while farming here.
• Gold drops at 1-in-350 for 1–5 Gold — a rare bonus on top of your Brute Horn farming, not a reliable Gold source on its own.
• If you're farming for Medium Scrolls specifically, Giant Scorpion and especially Venomweaver now have better odds than Magma Brute.
