Whisperwood
Whisperwood map view
Zone Calm / No PvP
Connected to Mainland (north return), Frostmere (south)
Notable features Pet shop, dirt paths, trees, stone, coal, ponds, roast pits, Whisperwood Chickens, player shacks
Entry requirement None

Whisperwood is a peaceful daylight forest south of the Mainland. It has no PvP and no wilderness mobs, making it one of the safest areas for gathering, cooking, pets, and housing-related activity. Whisperwood is also the only realm where new player shacks can be placed.

What's Here

Feature Use
Whisperwood Pet Shop Shop for a featured companion pet from Willow, when an offer is running - the shop stands empty between offers.
Whisperwood Chickens Passive creatures that drop Raw Chicken and a Feather — key ingredients in the Wolf Mount taming chain and Fishing bait.
Roast pits Cook Raw Chicken with Wood into Cooked Chicken, or raw fish with Wood into cooked fish.
Trees, stone, and coal nodes Safe gathering in a calm zone — no PvP risk.
Ponds Fishable water — catch Trout (Fishing 6, Trout Bait).
Player shacks Whisperwood is the only realm where new shacks can be placed. Needs a Hammer equipped, plus a Shack Kit - or 500 Wood and 200 Stone if you do not have one. Picking your shack back up returns the kit.
Path to Frostmere South route to the snowy blacksmith area — no level requirement.

Chickens and Cooking

Whisperwood Chickens are passive ambient creatures. If you stand on one it may peck you for at most 1 HP, but a peck can never kill you; they can be killed for Raw Chicken. Every chicken kill also drops a Feather, which fishing NPCs tie into Feather Bait one-for-one.

Action Requirement Result Use
Kill a Whisperwood Chicken 20 HP — 4 hits with the starter sword; any forged sword one-shots them Raw Chicken + Feather Cook into Cooked Chicken; tie feathers into Feather Bait
Cook Raw Chicken Raw Chicken + 1 Wood Cooked Chicken Feed to Wild Wolf to tame Wolf Mount

Wolf Mount taming chain

Whisperwood is the starting point for the Wolf Mount taming chain — everything needed is in one location:

Step Action Location Result
1 Kill Whisperwood Chickens Whisperwood Raw Chicken
2 Cook Raw Chicken at a roast pit with Wood Whisperwood roast pit Cooked Chicken
3 Feed Cooked Chicken to a Wild Wolf in the Expanded Wilderness Expanded Wilderness 10% chance to tame Wolf Mount (free accounts never tame — the chicken is still eaten)

Gathering

Whisperwood has trees, stone, and coal nodes for safe calm-zone gathering. Tool tiers speed up your swing but do not change yield or XP.

Resource Tool XP per action Notes
Wood Any Axe 20 XP Same rates as Wilderness but no PvP risk.
Stone Any Pickaxe 20 XP Same rates as Wilderness but no PvP risk.
Coal Any Pickaxe 25 XP Same rates as Wilderness but no PvP risk.

Fishing

Whisperwood's ponds are a fishing ground of their own — casts catch Trout.

Catch Fishing level Bait Rod XP per catch
Trout 6 Trout Bait Starter Fishing Rod or Level 2 Fishing Rod 130 XP

NPCs

NPC Role Notes
Willow Pet shop owner Sells a featured companion pet in the Whisperwood Pet Shop.

Connections

Direction Destination Notes
North Mainland Return route to the central hub.
South Frostmere No level requirement. Route to the blacksmith and iron ore area.

Tips

  • Whisperwood is the safest gathering zone — no PvP, no hostile mobs, same XP rates as the Wilderness.
  • The full Wolf Mount taming chain starts here — kill chickens, cook at the roast pit, then head to the Expanded Wilderness to feed Wild Wolves.
  • Fish can also be cooked at the roast pits here — useful if you've been fishing at The Pond and want to cook in a calm area.
  • Frostmere is connected from the south — no level gate, so the forge is open from day one.
  • To place a Shack, equip a Hammer (free from the Site Foreman on the Mainland) and use it on a valid build tile in Whisperwood. The build costs a Shack Kit, or 500 Wood and 200 Stone if you do not hold one.
