Economy explains the main currencies, shops, marketplace systems, and trade loops in Kintara.

Kintara uses Gold as the main in-game soft currency, while $KINS is the on-chain token used for access, marketplace, trading, and token-based systems. Club membership is paid separately in SOL.

Merchant offline: The Traveling Merchant — formerly the main Gold source — has been found dead and his services are shut down. Gold is now earned primarily through mob kills and the Venomweaver boss. His final lottery has been drawn and its claim window has closed, so there is nothing left to collect.

Currency Overview

Currency Type Main use Notes
Gold In-game soft currency Shops, property, casino, pets, furniture, cosmetics, mounts, chests, and training Earned through mob and boss kills, passive Money Printer income, Shores fishing, casino winnings, Casino VIP rewards, wagers, dice games, and admin grants.
$KINS On-chain token Extended game access, paid biomes, Marketplace systems, player trading, paid Spinner Wheel spins, Demon and Angel chest opening, and Holder Benefits Holding at least 1,000 $KINS unlocks extended progression, paid biomes, and mount, pet, scroll and rare outfit drops. Marketplace value-out features unlock after the balance has been held for 24 hours.
SOL Native Solana currency In-game wallet funding, $KINS conversion, Kintara Club membership, and Wishing Well donations (campaign now concluded) Membership is paid in SOL, not Gold or $KINS.

Free-to-Play Access

Kintara is free to play. Players can create an account and enter the game without holding $KINS or connecting an external wallet.

Free players can access the core world and its activities, including:

Free play continues until the player's Total Level reaches 10. At Total Level 10, the account pauses at its current progression until it holds at least 1,000 $KINS.

Holding at least 1,000 $KINS unlocks the paid biomes:

The same balance enables mount, pet, scroll and rare outfit drops. Existing holders who already meet the minimum are not affected by this change.

Access and Value-Out Rules

The 1,000 $KINS requirement controls extended progression and access to certain value-out systems. It is not a requirement for entering the game.

The following features unlock after the account has held at least 1,000 $KINS for 24 hours:

Buying, gathering, and playing remain available before the 24-hour holding period.

Gold Sources

Gold is now earned mainly through combat and passive income. Mob and boss Gold rolls are server-authoritative, use secure random number generation, and sync directly to the player's inventory.

Source Chance Gold Notes
Venomweaver boss 1 in 200 kills 1–25 Strong single-kill Gold source, rolled for every qualifying fighter. Halved from 1-in-100 in an August 2026 rebalance; see Venomweaver for current rates.
King Scorpia boss 1 in 100 kills 18–30 Rolled per eligible top-damage winner.
Magma Brute (Emberstone) 1 in 350 kills 1–5 On top of Brute Horn and pet drops. Rebalanced from 1-in-500.
Money Printer (passive) Varies Property owners share half of the casino's real net over the last 7 days, paid out hourly and weighted by property tier. Bronze ×1 · Silver ×2 · Gold ×4.
Fishing at The Shores About 1 in 10,000 casts 2–10 A sunken purse that comes up alongside the fish.
Casino Varies Gold won or lost through casino games. The casino's measured net is also used to calculate Money Printer payouts.
Casino VIP Varies The monthly VIP ladder pays Gold at every rung.
Spinner Wheel About 1 spin in 20 1 Free and paid spins share the same prize odds.
Wagers and dice games Varies Player-facing risk/reward systems.
Admin grants Varies Manual grant source.
Traveling Merchant Dead. His final lottery has been drawn and nothing is left to claim.

Casino

The Casino on the Mainland is Kintara's dedicated gambling area. Inside the building, players can play roulette, blackjack, slots, keno, Plinko, and Crash (with auto-play) for Gold. The outdoor Spinner Wheel on the plaza offers a free spin every 24 hours (two for holders of 75,000+ $KINS) plus an optional paid spin. The free spin needs Total Level 5, the day's daily quests completed, and 1,000 $KINS held for 24 hours.

See Casino for table rules and payouts, and Spinner Wheel for spin odds and prizes.

Money Printer payouts are half of the casino's measured real net over the last 7 days rather than a fixed share of every individual loss.

Mount Training System

All mounts use a fair, equal-opportunity training system managed by Sorrel the Stablemaster:

  • Base speed: 25% — Every mount starts here, regardless of rarity or cost. The one exception is the Lamborghini Mount, whose base is 200%.
  • Training: 10 Gold per session = +5% speed — Sessions are incremental and transparent. No pay-to-win mechanics.
  • Hard cap: 55% — The maximum speed any mount can achieve.
  • Per-mount training — Each mount holds its own trained speed. A trained mount is a valuable, tradeable asset.
  • Server-enforced and transparent — Trained speed shows in inventory, bank, trades, wagers, and Marketplace listings.

Wallet and Funding

Players can log in with email using a six-digit verification code. Google, Discord, X, and passkey login options are also available.

An external wallet is not required to enter the game. Kintara provides a non-custodial Solana wallet powered by Privy; Kintara does not hold the player's private keys or funds.

The in-game wallet supports:

  • Viewing SOL and $KINS balances
  • Depositing through a wallet address and QR code
  • Buying SOL with a bank card
  • Sending funds
  • Converting SOL to $KINS

See Wallet for login, security, and wallet details.

Referrals

The Referrals system pays $KINS to players whose referrals buy $KINS-priced items on the Marketplace.

Players share a referral code. When a referred player buys a $KINS listing, part of the 5% Marketplace fee (1–2.5% of the price) is paid to the referrer in $KINS inside the buyer's transaction. There is no claim button or waiting period. Gold purchases pay no referral share, and the referrer must have held 1,000 $KINS for 24 hours to be paid.

A volume ladder increases the referrer's share as the referrals' lifetime Marketplace spending grows.

Every referral payout is recorded with its value in USD. A leaderboard tracks referral performance, and the account-registration form includes a referral-code field below the username.

Marketplace

See the dedicated Marketplace page for the full buy/sell workflow, UI walkthrough, and listing limits.

Detail Value
Buying Always available
Value-out access Marketplace listings, player trades, wagers, and guild-bank deposits unlock after holding 1,000 $KINS for 24 hours. Listing also needs the tutorial finished and every core skill (Smithing excepted) at level 5+.
Listing types Gold listings or token listings.
Token currency $KINS — token listings are priced in US dollars and paid in $KINS at the live price.
Gold listing fee 5% seller-side fee, minimum 1 Gold per sale — the minimum Gold listing price is therefore 2 Gold. The buyer pays exactly the listed price; the fee comes out of the seller's payout.
$KINS listing fee 5% total: to the treasury (minus the referrer's share when the buyer was referred) / 0% burned. Seller receives 95%.
Active listing limit 5 for standard accounts, 10 for Kintara Club members; the 100K $KINS holder perk adds 5 more.
Escrow The listed item is escrowed while listed.
Listing lifetime 1, 3 or 7 days (default 3), chosen by the seller. An expired listing is hidden from buyers but stays escrowed until the seller cancels or relists it.
Listing details Listings show relevant item information such as speed and wear.

The Marketplace also supports buy orders — standing offers to buy an item for Gold, with the Gold placed in escrow when the order is posted and partial fills supported. See Marketplace for details.

The Marketplace received a major interface and listing rebuild:

  • A cleaner marketplace board
  • Dedicated item pages
  • Listing rows that show item speed and wear
  • Bulk delists that return items with their listed durability
  • Restored access to every page of listings
  • Improved busy-server handling so an active market does not appear empty
Fee update: The Marketplace $KINS fee remains 5% total, but the split is now 100% treasury and 0% burned. Sellers still receive 95%. The Marketplace is no longer a $KINS burn mechanic; with the Wishing Well charity campaign concluded, the paid Spinner Wheel is the only active $KINS burn mechanic. Gold sales carry their own 5% fee (minimum 1 Gold), which is removed from the game entirely.
