The Mine is the underground mining cave on the Mainland — the place where every new miner starts. Its entrance is a stone hill with a timber-framed cave mouth, marked on the world map with a pickaxe icon. Inside, the Old Miner teaches Mining and hands out a free starter Pickaxe, and the cave floor is dotted with rock nodes to swing it at.

The Mine follows the Mainland's safe rules — no PvP, and nothing is lost here.

The Old Miner

The Old Miner stands in the north of the cave. Talk to him to learn Mining and receive a free Pickaxe; if you later lose your pickaxe, he will hand out a replacement. See Old Miner for his full dialogue and services.

Mining

The cave holds a fixed layout of rock nodes, from single rocks up to 2x2 clusters — bigger rocks take more swings and give more material before they crumble. Each swing gives 1 material: a single rock is 6 swings for 6, a two-tile rock 7, and a 2x2 cluster 10. Roughly one rock in four has dark veins and carries Coal; the rest give Stone. A mined-out rock reappears 30-60 seconds later, and waits if somebody is standing on the tile.

Any pickaxe works here, including the starter Pickaxe. For Iron Ore you need Frostmere's rocks (Mining 5), and for Silver Ore the Dunes (Mining 20) — The Mine itself is stone and coal country.
