Axe is the gathering tool used for Woodcutting. New characters receive a basic Axe (shown in game as the Starter Axe) free from the Lumberjack on the Mainland. The other starter tools come from their own NPCs — the Old Miner gives the Pickaxe, the Old Fisher gives the Basic Fishing Rod, the Site Foreman gives the Hammer, and the Quartermaster issues the Sword.
Use
- Equip the Axe in a hotbar slot (keys 1–6).
- Use it on trees in the Wilderness to gather Wood.
- Each swing yields 1 Wood; the 20 Woodcutting XP is granted when the tree is felled.
- The Starter Axe never wears out, but it does nothing in The Dunes — cacti need an Iron Axe or better.
Acquisition
- Free from the Lumberjack on the Mainland.
- The Lvl 2 Axe (iron tier) is a separate craft via Smithing — it is forged from scratch, gathers the same yield and XP, and swings 10% faster. See Smithing for the full copper → iron → silver ladder.
