Giant Scorpion is a hostile mob found in The Dunes — West, East, and South realms all have packs of them. It is a source of Medium Scrolls and Desert Robes pieces, though it is no longer the fastest Medium Scroll farm in the game.

Giant Scorpions are tameable via King Scorpia Mount camouflage — they ignore riders of that mount until attacked.

Update — Balance Pass: Combat XP dropped from 180 to 110. Aggro range increased from 3 tiles to 6, and scorpions now stay on you up to 9 tiles once aggroed — walking through a pack is no longer free.

Medium Scroll Farming

Giant Scorpion is no longer the best Medium Scroll farm in the game — that title now belongs to Venomweaver.

Update: Giant Scorpion's Medium Scroll rate was halved (1 in 500 → 1 in 1,000) in an earlier pass. It remains a solid open-world option for players who want passive Desert Robes drops alongside their scrolls, but Venomweaver now offers better odds if you can meet its Combat requirement.

Heat Management

The Dunes deals 1 HP every 10 seconds to all players. You must:

• Wear Desert Robes (Top + Bottom) for complete immunity, OR
• Use Health Potion+ to heal through heat damage, OR
• Bring Cacti (20 HP per harvest, requires Iron Axe + Woodcutting 20) to heal on the spot

Regular potions and food do not work in The Dunes.

King Scorpia Mount Interaction

While riding King Scorpia Mount, all Giant Scorpions ignore you completely.

• Attack a Scorpion and camouflage breaks — they hunt you for 30 seconds
• Every further attack refreshes the 30-second timer
• Stop attacking and wait it out, camouflage returns
• Useful for repositioning or skipping packs

Strategy Tips

• Scroll farming — Venomweaver now has better Medium Scroll odds (1/500 vs. 1/1,000), but Giant Scorpion requires no queue and drops Desert Robes on the side
• Pack hunting — Giant Scorpions often roam in groups; with the wider aggro and chase range, expect multiple mobs to stick to you at once
• Heat watch — constantly monitor your HP; heat damage is consistent
• PvP alert — Dunes realms are full PvP outside safe camps (Dunes South has no safe camps at all); bring friends or fight defensively
• Shield + armor — Iron or Silver armor reduces incoming damage; bring Shield Potions
• Sword tier — Silver Sword hits for 30 base + 10 from Strength Potion = 40 damage per swing
