How to get Dropped by wilderness / Emberstone / Dunes / boss mobs · Season reward track

A Scroll is a soulbound quest item that drops from combat. Each scroll is uniquely generated with its own story, title, and task list — no two are the same. Finish every task, then redeem it to Maelor the Scrollbinder on Mainland for Gold.

Warning: Scrolls are soulbound and burn to ash if you die while carrying them in the Wilderness (and other death-penalty zones). They cannot be banked — finish and redeem them before risky trips.

How scrolls work

  1. Get a scroll — rare mob drop (see types below), or a Season reward track grant.
  2. Soulbound — bound to you; cannot be traded, sold, banked, or minted.
  3. Up to 5 at a time — you can hold a maximum of 5 unfinished scrolls (finished scrolls waiting to be redeemed don't count); while at the cap, further scroll drops are silently skipped.
  4. Open and read — double-click the scroll to see its story, delivery contracts, and bonus tasks.
  5. Track progress — track the scroll to follow completion live while you play.
  6. Hand in deliveries — talk to the named NPC on each material task and present the goods.
  7. Redeem — when every task is done, bring the scroll to Maelor the Scrollbinder for Gold (Medium and Hard Scrolls also roll for cosmetics).

Scroll types

Scroll type Drop source Drop rate Tasks Reward
Beginner Scroll Zombies, Dragons, Wolves (Wilderness, Wilderness Extension, Expanded Wilderness) 1 in 1,000 4 deliveries + 1–2 bonus 2–5 Gold
Medium Scroll Venomweaver (Glade Cave) 1 in 600 5 deliveries + 2–3 bonus 6–15 Gold + 5 independent cosmetic rolls (Wolf Mask, Frog Mask, Plunger, Top Hat, Flying Carpet)
Giant Scorpion (The Dunes West/East/South) 1 in 1,000
Magma Brutes (Emberstone) 1 in 1,500
King Scorpia (The Dunes South) <ref>Not independent — see note below the table. Only one scroll drops per King Scorpia kill.</ref> 1 in 300 (compensated rate)
Hard Scroll King Scorpia (The Dunes South) <ref>Checked first, before Medium Scroll — see note below the table.</ref> 1 in 500 5 deliveries + 3 fixed combat tasks 30–50 Gold + 14 independent cosmetic rolls (Flaming Helmet, 4 canes, Mummy Mask, Mummy Top, Mummy Bottom, Laurel Wreath, Clown Mask, Robin Hood Hat, Straw Hat, Demon Mask, Pirate Hat)
Venomweaver (Glade Cave) 1 in 1,000
Correction — King Scorpia scroll mechanic: King Scorpia's Hard Scroll (1/500) and Medium Scroll (1/300) are not independent rolls — only one scroll drops per kill. Hard Scroll is checked first; if it doesn't hit, Medium Scroll is checked at a compensated rate such that its true overall odds land at 1 in 300. Venomweaver rolls its Medium and Hard Scrolls separately, but there too at most one scroll pays per kill — a Medium win blocks the Hard payout on that kill.
Update: Medium Scroll now drops from four sources instead of one, including King Scorpia. Medium Scrolls used to pay 6–15 Gold and nothing else; they now also roll five cosmetic rewards on redemption — Wolf Mask, Frog Mask, Plunger, Top Hat, and the Flying Carpet mount (the first mount ever sourced from a scroll).
Update: Hard Scroll used to come only from King Scorpia. Venomweaver also drops Hard Scrolls (independently of its Medium Scroll roll, unlike King Scorpia). Hard Scroll's cosmetic reward pool has expanded several times and now runs to 14 independent rolls, most recently adding Laurel Wreath and Clown Mask — and the odds were widened across the board (the 1/500 rows to 1/200, the 1/1,000 rows to 1/300). See Hard Scroll for the full table. Demon Mask is unusual: it wears in the glasses slot rather than the hat slot, stacking with any hat, but can't be worn alongside actual glasses.
Update — Boss Loot retune: King Scorpia and Venomweaver's scroll rates have both moved multiple times as the team rebalanced who benefits from each fight. King Scorpia's loot is rolled only by the top 3 damage dealers; Venomweaver's is rolled by every qualifying fighter. Most recently, King Scorpia was buffed (Hard Scroll 1/750 → 1/500, Medium Scroll compensated 1/400 → 1/300) while Venomweaver's Medium Scroll was pulled back (1/325 → 1/600) and its Hard Scroll improved (1/1,200 → 1/1,000). Both bosses' Gold rates moved oppositely too: King Scorpia 1/300 → 1/100, Venomweaver 1/100 → 1/200.
Update — Season reward track: Scrolls can also be granted by Season reward track stops. A random-scroll stop rolls its tier when you claim it: 75% Beginner, 20% Medium, 5% Hard. A reward-track grant fits the claimant: if you're below the Emberstone gate, a Hard grant steps down to a Medium Scroll, and its hunts are drawn at your real level.
