Update:Fishing

Fishing is a real skill ladder in Server Update v5.7. Four fish across four waters, a bait climb you can farm or buy, three rods, a pier at The Shores, a 200 Gold Wooden Raft, cooking burns, and the chase Angler Outfit that makes every bite 30% faster.
As of September 2026: the two-minute Magma Brute respawn noted below was cut to 90 seconds later the same day (announced in v5.8 — see Update:Hitsplats). The raft-only far water is now The Deep, a fifth fishing ground with a fifth fish, Swordfish (Fishing 28, Squid Bait, heals 25 HP), and the Orca Mount at 1 in 8,000; every Tuna spot can be reached from the dock or the sand. The Angler Outfit exchange now takes 150 of each of the five cooked fish (750 in total) for 10 tickets, and each ticket wins at 1 in 1,000. The guild bank is now live.
Highlights
| Update | Details |
|---|---|
| Four fish / four waters | Herring (The Pond), Trout (Whisperwood), Bass & Tuna (The Shores). Level is on the catch, not the zone door. |
| Bait ladder | Trade 10 fish → 5 next-tier bait, or buy 100 bait for 1 Gold. Feather Bait from chicken feathers. |
| Three rods | Free Basic (Pond/Whisperwood), 10 Gold Level 2 (most waters), 15 Gold Fire-Resistant (Emberstone lava only). |
| Shores dock + raft | Pier to reach Tuna water; Wooden Raft (200 Gold) makes ocean walkable — item, not a mount. |
| Cooking burns | Burn chance scales with Cooking (30% at ≤5 → 5% at 40). Never reaches zero. |
| Angler Outfit | Hat / Vest / Waders via raffle; full set = 30% faster bites everywhere (including lava). |
| Rare water drops | Stingray Mount and Dolphin Mount at 1 in 10,000 each on Shores casts. Turtle off the Shores pool. |
Four fish, four waters
| Fish | Where | Fishing level | Bait | Cooked heals | XP (catch / cook) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Herring | The Pond | 1 | Feather Bait | 5 HP | 125 / 125 |
| Trout | Whisperwood | 6 | Trout Bait | 10 HP | 130 / 130 |
| Bass | The Shores, south of the buoys | 13 | Bass Bait | 15 HP | 135 / 135 |
| Tuna | The Shores, north of the buoys | 20 | Tuna Bait | 20 HP | 140 / 140 |
The old generic fish item is now Herring — same stacks and listings, new name. The Shores stays walkable at any level; the fish, bait, and rod gate what you can pull.
Bait
- Climb: at either Fishing NPC, trade 10 fish for 5 bait of the next tier (raw or cooked; raw spent first).
- Bottom rung: chickens drop a Feather; NPC ties 1 Feather → 1 Feather Bait (chickens no longer drop finished bait).
- Buy: 1 Gold for 100 bait at both counters.
- Cost on catch, not cast — no bite / cancelled cast spends nothing.
Rods
| Rod | Price | Water |
|---|---|---|
| Starter Fishing Rod | Free — Old Fisher at The Pond | Pond + Whisperwood |
| Level 2 Fishing Rod | 10 Gold — The Shores | Everything except lava |
| Fire-Resistant Fishing Rod | 15 Gold — The Shores | Emberstone lava only |
Upgrades keep working in lower waters (Level 2 still fishes the Pond). The fireproof rod is lava-only. Emberstone lava with it yields Molten Rock — no bait, no cooking, 125 XP per haul.
Dock, buoys, and raft
- Pier eleven tiles out on the north side of the buoy line; Dockhand Maren sells rods, bait, and rafts. Cast range is five tiles — the dock is needed to reach far Tuna columns.
- Buoy line west–east: north = Tuna, line + south = Bass (same depth).
- Wooden Raft — 200 Gold: 1×1 sail raft. Inventory item (tradeable / bankable / lootable on death). Shores ocean only. Boarding dismounts you; holding a rod and clicking out-of-range water sails you there.
Moving fish spots
Active spots are 2×2 water that stay hot 2–5 minutes, then move (independent timers).
| Water | Live spots |
|---|---|
| The Shores — Tuna | 3 |
| The Shores — Bass | 3 |
| Whisperwood | 3 (river + each accent pond) |
| The Pond | 2 |
| Emberstone | 2 across three lava pits (never share a pit; white rings) |
If a spot moves out from under your line, the line is pulled in.
Cooking burns
| Cooking level | Burn chance |
|---|---|
| 5 and below | 30.0% |
| 10 | 26.4% |
| 20 | 19.3% |
| 30 | 12.1% |
| 40 | 5.0% |
~0.7% per level between anchors; never zero. Burnt fish: no HP, no Cooking XP, still stacks/trades. Roast Pit shows your exact chance. Cooked Trout / Bass / Tuna are edible again (10 / 15 / 20 HP).
Angler Outfit
At launch the Angler took 250 Cooked Herring + 250 Cooked Trout + 250 Cooked Bass + 250 Cooked Tuna (1,000 cooked fish) for 10 Angler Raffle Tickets. Since the Swordfish arrived the price is 150 of each of the five cooked species (750 cooked fish) for the same 10 tickets, and each ticket wins at 1 in 1,000 — replace the 1 in 2,500 below.
- Each ticket: 1 in 2,500 for one random piece (Hat / Vest / Waders).
- No duplicate protection; all pieces tradeable.
- Wear any piece at Fishing 30.
- Full set: every bite 30% faster — all waters, including lava.
Rare Shores drops
| Drop | Odds |
|---|---|
| Stingray Mount | 1 in 10,000 (any Shores cast) |
| Dolphin Mount | 1 in 10,000 (independent roll) |
| 2–10 Gold | 1 in 10,000 |
Turtle Mount is off the Shores fishing pool.
Other changes
- Magma Brute respawn raised to 2 minutes (was 45s) so Emberstone fishing is workable.
- Rod / raft vanish bug fixed (tool allowlists unified).
- New fish, bait, burnt fish, feathers, tickets, rods, and raft are marketplace-tradeable.
- Scrolls: “Deliver Cooked Fish” accepts any cooked species; Hard Scrolls from Venomweaver credit Venomweaver correctly.
- Guild ranks: Recruit → Sergeant → General → Owner (bank still testing).
- Worn gear trades again; Examine shows durability have/max %.
- Fishing / cooking UI rebuilt mobile-friendly; crisp icons; Angler pieces animate; fish swim in active spots.
How to try it
- Free rod from the Old Fisher at The Pond; feathers from Whisperwood chickens → Feather Bait.
- Climb: 10 Herring → 5 Trout Bait at either Fishing NPC.
- Walk the new dock north of the buoys; Maren sells the 10 Gold Level 2 rod.
- Buy a raft (200 Gold) and sail to Tuna water.
- Cook at a Roast Pit — the window shows your burn chance.
