Wooden Raft is a 1×1 raft with a little sail, sold by Dockhand Maren at The Shores for 200 Gold. Carrying one lets you walk onto the ocean — click the water and you step aboard, opening up The Deep, the pocket of water that no cast from the sand or the dock can reach. It is also the only way to reach The Sunken Isles, the open sea past the far east edge of The Shores' ocean.
It's an item, not a mount: Wooden Raft lives in your backpack. It can be traded, banked, and taken off your corpse — that's what makes 200 Gold a real price instead of a formality. It must be in your inventory (not your bank) to use it.
How to get
| Source | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Dockhand Maren | 200 Gold | Sold at her dock, The Shores. |
How it works
- Click open water at The Shores or The Sunken Isles while carrying a raft to board it.
- Holding a rod and clicking a live fishing spot that is too far to cast to paddles you over instead of refusing the click — you are told "Too far to cast — paddling over."
- Boarding dismounts you, and you cannot mount while afloat.
- It's the only way to fish The Deep — the Swordfish water, and the only casts that can bring up an Orca Mount, a Lanternfish, a Waterlogged Crate, a Sunken Treasure Map or Silver Ore.
- It's also the only way to reach The Sunken Isles: sail onto the two water tiles marked with arrows between a pair of lantern posts on the far east edge of The Shores' ocean, just north of The Deep. The same two rows on the sea's west edge bring you back.
- At The Sunken Isles the raft has to stay in your backpack or hotbar: without one you're ferried straight back to the end of The Shores' dock ("No raft: you are ferried back to The Shores."). A shark death there destroys it along with everything else you carry.
- If you lose the raft while afloat at The Shores, you wash up on the sand rather than being stranded.
Where it works
| Water | Works? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The Shores | Yes | The ocean it's sold for, The Deep included. |
| The Sunken Isles | Yes | The open sea past The Shores — the raft is the only way there, and it has to stay in your bag. |
| The Pond | No | Fishable end-to-end from the bank already — no need. |
| Whisperwood | No | Fishable end-to-end from the bank already — no need. |
| Emberstone lava | No | Nothing wooden floats on lava. |
