Wood
Type Material
Gathered at Trees in the Wilderness, The Pond, Whisperwood and other realms
Skill Woodcutting
Used for Cooking fuel, blacksmith recipes, potions and Guild Life

Wood is one of the main gathered resources in Kintara. It is obtained by chopping trees with an Axe, and it is one of the first materials new players usually collect.

Wood is used as Cooking fuel, in Smithing forge recipes at the blacksmiths in Frostmere and Dunes West, to buy Health Potions, and for Guild Life upkeep.

Tip: Bank Wood before long Wilderness trips. The Wilderness is a PvP area, so carrying large stacks can be risky.

Gathering

Tool Yield XP Notes
Starter Axe 1 Wood per swing 20 Woodcutting XP per felled tree Free starter gathering tool
Iron Axe 1 Wood per swing 20 Woodcutting XP per felled tree Swings 10% faster (a Copper Axe 5%, a Silver Axe 15%)

A tree takes 6 swings to fell, so it gives 6 Wood, and the 20 XP is paid when it falls. Every axe tier gathers the same — higher tiers only swing faster. Higher-tier axes previously doubled the yield and XP; that was removed in a July 2026 rebalance.

Trees grow on the Mainland itself — where the tutorial has you chop your first one — and in the calm areas The Pond and Whisperwood, as well as in the Wilderness realms and Frostmere. (In The Dunes the "trees" are Cacti.)
