Cooking Dishes

Dishes are Cooking's multi-ingredient recipes. A fish or a chicken goes on the fire alone and comes off as one heal; a dish takes two or three ingredients you already gather and comes off as food that heals and gives you a 10-minute buff. There are eight dishes, unlocking between Cooking 10 and Cooking 38.

How to cook a dish

  • Cook dishes at any Roast Pit, the same as fish and chicken — pick the dish from the pit's recipe list.
  • Every cook burns 1 Wood as fuel on top of the ingredients listed below.
  • Dishes never burn. A dish spends several ingredients at once, so there's no burn roll to gamble them away.
  • Dishes are not fish: cooking one does not count toward "cook fish" daily quests, the weekly quest, or your Fish Cooked total.
  • Dishes are food, so they can be traded and listed on the Marketplace.

All dishes

Dish Cooking level Ingredients (plus 1 Wood) Heals Buff (10 minutes) Cooking XP
Fisher's Chowder 10 2 Herring + 1 Trout 15 HP +15% fishing speed 300
Cactus Salad 14 3 Cacti + 1 Raw Chicken 20 HP +10% Woodcutting & Mining XP 190
Hunter's Roast 18 2 Raw Chicken + 2 Feather + 1 Coal 25 HP +3 sword damage vs monsters 340
Coal-Smoked Bass 22 2 Bass + 2 Coal 30 HP +10% Woodcutting & Mining speed 350
Seared Tuna Steak 26 2 Tuna + 1 Cacti + 1 Coal 35 HP +10% Fishing XP 360
Brute Horn Broth 30 1 Brute Horn + 2 Cooked Chicken + 1 Coal 40 HP 10% less damage from monsters 80
Ember-Seared Swordfish 34 2 Swordfish + 1 Molten Rock 45 HP +5 sword damage vs monsters 360
Reef Feast 38 1 Parrotfish + 1 Grouper + 1 Brute Horn 50 HP 15% less damage from monsters 380

Fish ingredients are the raw fish. Brute Horn Broth takes chicken that is already cooked, which is why it pays less Cooking XP — the chicken's own cook already paid out.

Food buffs

Eating a dish heals you and starts its buff, shown as a chip on your HUD with the time left.

  • 10 minutes per buff.
  • One food buff at a time. Eating a different dish replaces the buff that was running; the game asks you first, so press again to confirm.
  • The same dish stacks time. Eating another of the same dish while its buff runs adds 10 minutes, up to 1 hour left. The buff itself doesn't get stronger.
  • At the 1-hour cap the game won't let you eat more of that dish (heal included), and the dish isn't used up.
  • Heals only what you're missing. A dish never heals past your maximum HP. You can still eat one at full health just for the buff.
  • One dish heal every 31 seconds. Eat a second dish inside that window and you get its buff, but not its heal.
  • Not in The Dunes. Like all cooked food, dishes can't be eaten in the heat — only Cacti heals there.
  • The buff keeps running if you change realm or reconnect.

What each buff does

Buff Effect Dishes
Fishing speed Fish bite sooner — the wait for a bite is 15% shorter. Fisher's Chowder
Fishing XP +10% Fishing XP on every catch. Seared Tuna Steak
Woodcutting & Mining speed Your axe and pickaxe swing 10% faster. Coal-Smoked Bass
Woodcutting & Mining XP +10% Woodcutting and Mining XP. Cactus Salad
Sword damage vs monsters Flat extra damage on every sword hit against a monster or boss. It does nothing against players, and nothing for a bow. Hunter's Roast (+3), Ember-Seared Swordfish (+5)
Damage reduction vs monsters Takes a percentage off every hit a monster or boss lands on you. It does nothing against players. Brute Horn Broth (10%), Reef Feast (15%)

Food buffs work alongside relic bonuses and potions rather than replacing them.

Tips

  • Fisher's Chowder is the first dish (Cooking 10) and only needs fish from The Pond and Whisperwood — eat one before a long fishing session.
  • Coal-Smoked Bass and Cactus Salad pair well with gathering trips; combine with a higher-tier Axe or Pickaxe.
  • For boss fights and the Frostmere packs, Brute Horn Broth or Reef Feast soak up damage, and Hunter's Roast / Ember-Seared Swordfish kill faster.
  • Cacti come from The Dunes, and Brute Horn and Molten Rock from the Emberstone — free accounts can't reach either, but these ingredients can be bought on the Marketplace.
