Free to play describes Kintara's open-access game model. Players can create an account and enter the game without holding $KINS, connecting an external wallet, or paying an entry fee.

Free play continues until the player's Total Level reaches 10. At Total Level 10, the account pauses at its current progression until it holds at least 1,000 $KINS.

The gate is gone: The former requirement to hold 1,000 $KINS before entering Kintara has been removed. New players can log in, explore the core world, and play for free.

Starting the Game

Players can create an account and log in using any of the following methods:

  • Email, using a six-digit verification code
  • Google
  • Discord
  • X
  • Passkey

A Solana wallet is not required to enter the game. Existing login methods can be connected to the same character through the Account tab.

Free Play Progression

Free play is available until the player's Total Level reaches 10.

Stage Requirement Access
Starting the game No $KINS required Create an account, log in, and enter Kintara.
Free progression Total Level 0–10 Play the core world and use its available systems.
Extended progression Hold at least 1,000 $KINS Continue progressing after Total Level 10.
Value-out features Hold at least 1,000 $KINS for 24 hours List items, trade with players, wager, and deposit into guild banks.

At Total Level 10, the account pauses where it stands until the player holds at least 1,000 $KINS. Once the minimum balance is held, progression continues normally.

Free World

Free players can access the core world:

Free players can use the core game systems, including:

  • Fighting mobs
  • Gathering resources
  • Fishing
  • Cooking
  • Banking
  • Quests
  • Casino games
  • Earning Gold
  • Exploring the free regions
  • Using shops and other in-game systems

The required wilderness-kill step has been removed from the new-player experience.

Unlocking Paid Content

Holding at least 1,000 $KINS unlocks the paid biomes:

The same balance also enables mount and pet drops.

The 1,000 $KINS balance does not need to be held for 24 hours to unlock paid biomes or mount and pet drops. The 24-hour period applies to value-out features such as Marketplace listings and player trading.

Value-Out Features

Kintara separates value-in from value-out.

Buying, earning, and playing are available during free play. Features that allow value to leave the game or move between players unlock after the account has held at least 1,000 $KINS for 24 hours.

Feature Unlock requirement
Buying from the Marketplace Available immediately
Earning Gold Available immediately
Playing Kintara Available immediately
Marketplace listings Hold 1,000 $KINS for 24 hours
Player-to-player trading Hold 1,000 $KINS for 24 hours
Wagers Hold 1,000 $KINS for 24 hours
Guild-bank deposits Hold 1,000 $KINS for 24 hours

This rule does not prevent a new player from buying items, earning Gold, gathering resources, fighting mobs, or continuing to play.

See Marketplace, Trading, and Economy for the individual system rules.

Wallet

Players do not need an external wallet to enter Kintara. The game provides an in-game, non-custodial Solana wallet powered by Privy.

Kintara does not hold the player's private keys or funds.

The wallet button opens the player's wallet and provides access to:

  • SOL and $KINS balances
  • A deposit address
  • A deposit QR code
  • Buying SOL with a bank card
  • Sending funds
  • Converting SOL to $KINS

Players can add SOL and convert it to $KINS without leaving the game.

Players can add wallet security through an authenticator app or passkey so that transactions require a second check.

On Android, Mobile Wallet Adapter is the wallet path. Tapping Play opens the player's installed wallet directly instead of displaying the normal login picker.

See Wallet, Account, and Supported Wallets for more information.

Guided Tutorial

New players receive a guided tutorial designed to help them reach the core game safely.

The tutorial includes:

  • A glowing trail through the world
  • Device-aware instructions
  • Guidance for the first gathering and combat steps
  • A first cooking task that cannot burn
  • Starter equipment and early progression guidance

The tutorial no longer requires a player to kill a wilderness mob. A new player's first hour does not have to end in a dangerous area or a death screen.

How to Start

  1. Select Play.
  2. Choose Log in with Email and enter the six-digit code, or choose another available login method.
  3. Follow the glowing tutorial trail.
  4. Talk to the Quartermaster for a starter Sword.
  5. Gather basic materials with Woodcutting and Mining.
  6. Store valuable materials at the Bank.
  7. Fight mobs and complete quests to build Total Level.
  8. Reach Total Level 10.
  9. Hold at least 1,000 $KINS to continue progression and unlock the paid biomes.
  10. Hold the minimum for 24 hours to unlock Marketplace listings, player trading, wagers, and guild-bank deposits.

Existing Players

Players who already held at least 1,000 $KINS are not negatively affected by the free-to-play update.

For existing holders, the access change is effectively invisible. Their existing progression and unlocked systems continue normally.
