A Gilded Mount is a rare, cosmetic variant of a standard mount breed. Gilded mounts are created through a high-stakes ritual performed by Sorrel the Stablemaster — you sacrifice up to 3 identical mounts in hopes of creating a single, shiny gold-plated version.
Every mount breed but one can be gilded — 37 in all: Dragon, Eagle, Molten Phoenix, Whale, Spider, Venomweaver, Wolf, Tiger, Black Bull, Magma Crocodile, Unicorn, Crocodile, Giraffe, Wooly Mammoth, Harambe, Tralalero Tralala, T-Rex, Snake, Octopus, Turtle, Stingray, Dolphin, Rocket, King Scorpia, Strawberry Elephant, Orca, Anglerfish, Seahorse, Pufferfish, Shore Crab, Flying Carpet, Hot Air Balloon, War Camel, Elkhorn Stag, Kraken, Undead Charger and Pumpkin Carriage. The last seven gained gold variants on 27 October 2026: the Gold Flying Carpet Mount, Gold Hot Air Balloon, Gold War Camel, Gold Elkhorn Stag, Gold Kraken, Gold Undead Charger and Gold Pumpkin Carriage. The only mount with no gold variant, the Lamborghini Mount, is refused by the ritual.
How to gild
Visit Sorrel the Stablemaster on the Mainland with 1–3 identical mounts of the same breed, carried in your mount bag, inventory or hotbar (mounts in the bank can't be slotted):
- Open the gilding ritual interface
- Slot 1, 2, or 3 mounts of the same breed
- Sorrel attempts the ritual
- All slotted mounts are consumed — you either get a Gilded Mount or the mounts turn to ash
You need room for the new mount: the ritual won't start unless a slot frees up when your mounts are consumed or you already have a free slot.
Success odds
| Mounts slotted | Success chance | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1 mount | 20% | Risky — 80% chance to lose your mount |
| 2 mounts | 40% | Better odds, but double the cost in mounts |
| 3 mounts | 60% | Highest odds, but sacrifice 3 mounts for one Gilded |
Even with 3 mounts, success is never guaranteed. This is a true gamble.
Rules
- Identical breeds only — all slotted mounts must be the same breed. You cannot cross-breed (no Whale + Dragon + Wolf combinations).
- All mounts consumed — whether you win or lose, every mount you slot is burned in the ritual. No refunds, no partial returns.
- Fixed odds — the success chance depends only on how many mounts you slot (20/40/60%). Nothing else changes the roll, and gilded mounts cannot themselves be used as ritual inputs — only base mounts count.
- One Gilded per ritual — success produces exactly one Gilded Mount of that breed.
Gilded Mount stats
A successful ritual grants a fresh Gilded Mount at the base 25% speed — any speed training bought on the sacrificed mounts is lost. Beyond the shiny gold appearance and rarity, a Gilded Mount performs like its base counterpart.
On 27 October 2026 the 30 older gold mounts were restyled to match the seven new ones: their look was redone so the gold keeps each mount's own detail (stripes, fur, shells, markings) instead of one flat colour. Gold mounts you already own show the new look.
Since 30 October 2026 the owner of each restyled gold mount picks its look: ride it, open the Outfit window, choose Classic (the original gold model and finish), Polished (the bright restyled shine) or True Gold (deep metallic gold with studio-style highlights) and press Done. Everyone around you sees the look you pick. The Gold King Scorpia and Gold Magma Crocodile start on Classic; the Gold Eagle, Black Bull, Octopus, Rocket and Tralalero Tralala start on True Gold; every other restyled gold starts on Polished.
- Starts at the base 25% speed; training on the sacrificed mounts does not carry over
- Can still be trained by Sorrel the Stablemaster (normal speed training, up to 55%)
- Valuable for collectors and bragging rights
Other ways to get a gold mount
Gilding isn't the only source of every gold mount: the Gold Whale Mount also drops from fishing in The Pond. Gold mounts can also be traded on the Marketplace.
Tips
- Gilding is a true gamble — only gild if you can afford to lose the mounts.
- Three mounts at 60% is the "safest" option, but you're risking 3 mounts for 1 Gilded. Do the math before committing.
- Rare breeds (like the Rocket) are harder to collect three of, but the odds and the ritual are the same as for any other breed.
- Gilded mounts are extremely valuable in trades — they're rare cosmetic variants that show off your luck.
- If your mounts are trained, remember the training is lost on a success — gild first, train after.
