The Roast Pit is where Cooking happens in Kintara. Pick what to roast, set how many to cook, and the pit shows your exact current burn chance before you commit — no guessing. Roast pits stand at The Pond (two) and in Whisperwood (two).
How it works
| Detail | Value |
|---|---|
| Cost | 1 Wood per item cooked |
| Cook time | 10 seconds per item — a queue of 20 takes about 200 seconds |
| Cookable items | Herring, Trout, Bass, Tuna, Swordfish, Chicken |
| Burn chance display | Shown live as a percentage before cooking, based on your current Cooking level |
Select an item, choose a quantity with the +/- controls or MAX, then hit Cook. Each fish rolls independently against your current burn chance — a failed roll produces the burnt version of that fish instead (Burnt Herring, Burnt Trout, Burnt Tuna, Burnt Bass, or Burnt Swordfish), which is junk: no heal, no XP.
Cooking Level Requirements
Each fish needs a minimum Cooking level before it can be roasted:
| Fish | Cooking level required |
|---|---|
| Herring | 1 |
| Trout | 6 |
| Bass | 13 |
| Tuna | 20 |
| Swordfish | 28 |
| Chicken | 1 (never burns) |
Burn Chance by Cooking Level
| Cooking level | Burn chance |
|---|---|
| 5 and below | 30.0% |
| 10 | 26.4% |
| 20 | 19.3% |
| 30 | 12.1% |
| 40 | 5.0% |
The rate slides roughly 0.7% per level between those anchors and never reaches zero — a mastered cook is a rare accident, not an impossible one.
